Money wasted: $97 million (per billion spent)
The U.S.-based Project Management Institute released a global report in February documenting the billions wasted on infrastructure projects every year due to poor planning, dense bureaucracy, and failure to retain staff. The average amount wasted globally is about $97 million for every billion dollars spent.
