POOR ASSET ALLOCATION
Poor asset allocation is a big threat to one’s retirement, said financial advisor Kirk Chisholm. Although the traditional advice is to subtract your age from 100 and use this value as the percentage of bonds in your portfolio, Chisholm and others recommend a more cautious approach. The fact is that investors can lose money in bonds or spend their time chasing yields since rates are low.
“This is a mistake you don’t want to make so close to your retirement,” said Chisholm.
